Missed DID: The Fourth Horseman

Description

Hello everyone,

Here's a new WoW DID pic, this time from my "Missed DID" series :) Disclaimer though, aside the obvious spoiler, this quest is kinda emotional for me as it hits pretty close to home (the home being the Paladin Class Order Hall since some of you may know, I play a paladin since forever)... So I apologize for the language, I rarely do it but I'm going full Leanna mode here ^^'

The quest "The Fourth Horseman" is the last quest in the Death Knight Class Order Hall campaign where like other classes, they receive the third relic slot, a title etc. And quite frankly, it's a lore disaster.

Long story short, during the Legion invasion, the Knights of the Ebon Blade will do "whatever it takes" to defeat the demons and so they accept help from the new Lich King, Blovar Fordragon. And so throughout the campaign, the player who is the Deathlord hero, does a number of quests (some more questionable than others) where the Lich King offers his help and it leads up to the creation of the new Four Horseman (if anyone recalls the original ones from Naxxramas). And so we raise Inquisitor Sally Whitemane, General Nazgrim and King Thoras Trollbane.

Now as much as I applauded at first, giving Whitemane a chance at redemption as we know she was evil when she lived, I began to have my doubts about raising Nazgrim and Trollbane, both very prestigious heroes of the Horde and Alliance respectively. The DK's did it without asking the factions for permission which they most likely wouldn't get, so they definitely pissed off both. But that was just the start, the final quest "The Fourth Horseman" was the one where we needed to raise a leader of the group. And when the Lich King "commanded" to raise Lord Tirion Fordring, I was pretty much speechless. Even more when the Deathlord (our DK character) agreed blindly to this task, even if it involved attacking the paladins of the Silver Hand and Light's Hope Chapel which would result in many deaths. Even Darion Mograine didn't want to do this, but he had no choice only to obey the Deathlord.

Of course the quest itself consisted of slaughtering a number of paladins (allies in the war against the Legion which the Ebon Blade basically betrayed and declared war), but being a paladin myself the thought of a possibility of any notable paladin lore character dying during this, hurt me more and I couldn't even stomach the idea of seeing Tirion, the Ashbringer, raised as a Death Knight...

And now this is where the Missed DID pic comes into play. After cutting a way into the underground class order hall, you are confronted by none other than Lady Liadrin herself, the Matriarch of the Blood Knights. Of course I was pissed as I had no choice but to fight her and I was ready to buy a plane ticket, fly and beat the crap out of everyone in Blizzard's HQ if they killed her off... Luckily Lady Liadrin is only defeated, submits and she kneels down, without suffering any dangerous wounds.

So instead of her being attacked like that, I chose a DID capture scenario where she was stunned by either Death Grips or Chains of Ice, then bound and gagged and moved out of the way so Mr. Edgelord... I mean Deathlord and his crew could perform the raising. Lady Liadrin of course tries to call out for help and from this point I was relieved to see the Light in the Chapel intervene, prevent the raising of Tirion and grill Darion, too bad the Deathlord got away tho... and Lady Liadrin was freed as well :)

To summarize, if you main a DK, know I have nothing against you personally, but I have no respect for your class, Ebon Blade order and hero in lore since he is basically a retarded moron. Of course we have Blizzard to blame for the writing, just like in the Rogue campaign, but honestly.... not seeing through the Lich King's obvious ordering around and influence (not to mention accepting his "help" without question after you spend a whole expansion fighting to break free of him lol)? Accepting missions that attack, hurt and murder your own allies without question? Disrespecting one of the most heroic and important characters in Warcraft history? That's just bullshit :) I also read that the DK mount quest involves slaughtering red dragons, once again allies... I honestly hope this "hero" class gets wiped out of the game at some point and Acherus blasted out of the sky, while the Edgelord gets turned into murloc food ^^ Oh and arguments like "we do whatever it takes to defeat the Legion" or "evil used for good" are just pathetic, simply because other classes fight them just as effectively without pulling off disgusting shit like that. On a side note tho, I'm curious what Blizz does lorewise with DK's after the Legion is defeated as they'll be pretty much on the kill list of: The Alliance, The Horde, The Silver Hand and Alexstrasza and her red dragonflight =)

PS. A little trivia, I had originally planned a different WoW DID pic (with less walls of text rant xD), but I got some last minute model issues. So I decided to make this one which I also originally planned to be longer, something like a mini comic with Liadrin's capture sequence and Leanna popping in with some paladins, then proceeding to kick the Deathlord's ass ^^' But I had plans to do a WoW DID pic faster, so I decided for this shorter version, anyhow hope you like the pic and didn't fall asleep while reading my rant, I apologize for my outburst once again.

Short rant incoming. I basically can't consider the DK campaign cannon, otherwise the Legion storyline falls apart for my paladin main. If he were the highlord for the paladins when this happened he would declare an Argent crusade for the extermination of the order, even as demons rained from the sky You don't attack the Sanctum of the Light the home base of a class about holiness, protection, and retribution, and expect to just walk away unpunished. In my paladin eyes, if you make an attack like that you are on the side of Legion (It doesn't help that the Lich King was originally created by the Legion.)

From a gameplay perspective, it is also a huge mistake because Legion is all about class fantasy. So as a paladin main, I fell in love with my class even more as I got a home base, and a bunch of awesome allies. Then I find out that the DKs can just waltz into my base, kills my guards, beat up the most famous living paladin, and then waltz out saying "Just joking we didn't need Tirion anyways" it feels like getting knifed in the back. I know some priests felt bad that the paladins had to come save their base(I think it's nice moment about unity in the Light), but this seems like clear favoritism. I have a lot of love for Warcraft, so I can take the hit, but it definitely leaves a scar.

Rants aside, this is a fun picture, It's always fun to see Liadrin, and I think your version of events is much better.
